If you are what you eat, we're nuts!

You are what you eat. Finding good quality food is harder than ever despite all of mankind’s innovations in food production. Simplicity can be profound. The chestnut has its roots in history. our farm believes the chestnut can make a comeback as a part of the American diet. we look foward to reintroducing the chestnut to you and your family.

We started with a worn out hay field. We believed in the land and the potential of returning chestnuts to our region.

Hope and dirt is where we began.

We planted our first chestnuts in 2019 in what is now our certified tree nursery. Over 90% of the chestnuts we planted grew into strong trees and we knew we were onto something. Those first 600 chestnuts became the first trees that we transplanted in the fall of 2020 into our very first orchard at our Medford site (currently closed to the public). At the end of 2021, after planting our second orchard in Medford, we expanded to a second farm in Chesterfield, New Jersey. Each year we have added hundreds of trees and now have over 2000 between our two farms.

As our Chestnut trees mature, we can the space between them, called "alleys," to cultivate complimentary crops. Our Chesterfield farm came complete with complementary crops of asparagus and blueberries. We have added elderberries, aronia berries, comfrey, and asparagus at our Medford site and elderberries to our Chesterfield site so far. We hope to add pawpaws and figs in the future.

We believe nature knows best. Our crops are raised without chemicals. Healthy soil contains an extremely complex network of organisms benefiting from each other’s proximity. The network breaks down and carries essential nutrients. This nutrition is what we seek to give our soil and in turn to our trees and crops by creating a vast network of life. We hold healthy, ethically produced food very close to our hearts. We model our business and farm on the beneficial example of nature.
